Company news summary Coronavirus – World Wide Labz and Baebies to provide RT-PCR Covid-19 tests – US CDC considering negative Covid-19 test for asymptomatic people
A CLIA-certified laboratory in the United States, Global Clinical Laboratoryand Babies have collaborated to provide ultra-fast real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing for Covid-19. Unlike traditional RT-PCR test results that are reported after a minimum of 24 hours, Baebies’ FINDER 1.5 test platform is claimed to deliver results with an on-cartridge analysis time of less than 17 minutes. It can also potentially identify the Delta and Omicron variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
With an increase in cases of the Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the United States, the Centers for Disaster Control and Prevention (CDC) plans to change guidelines to incorporate a negative Covid-19 test as well as its five-day quarantine for asymptomatic patients. A recent directive reduced the length of isolation for asymptomatic people with Covid-19 from ten days to five days, followed by the wearing of masks in public for the next five days. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci said the CDC is now considering including the negative test as part of its guidance.
